As a MCIPD-qualified HR & Resourcing professional with over 20 years experience, I have a solid background in all aspects of resourcing, in particular direct sourcing methodologies. I started my career in the UK working in Graduate and Intern Recruitment for international banks specialising in Fixed Income, Equities, Middle Office and Corporate Finance.
I moved to the Channel Islands in 2008 and since then, I have worked in HR and Recruitment roles at two major global banks as well as in the commercial sector, covering roles in Finance, Tax, Legal, Commercial, Marketing, IT and Supply Chain. I have built a strong passion and reputation for my open and honest approach, working collaboratively and in the best interests of both clients and candidates.
How I discovered my passion for recruitment
I have always been passionate about people – their motivations, behaviours, their success stories, main achievements, and also reasons for failure. Having worked in both in-house and agency recruitment, I have seen the frustrations that can come about when it comes to recruiting your next employee or indeed, looking for a new role. I have been fortunate throughout my career to have had the opportunity to meet talented people and learn every day about their jobs. I also love building and growing relationships with clients and learning about new businesses and industries and their challenges.
Recruitment – my approach
I like to go beyond the job description ("JD") and CV and listen to both clients and candidates to really get to the depths of what they want out of the recruitment process. I truly believe that if you don't get beyond the JD, then you are losing already. The amount of JDs I have seen which are worded in a way that makes you feel you can't do the job as defined or that doesn't contain the important aspects of what you are ACTUALLY looking for happens far too often!
Sure, it fits the template given to you or is a duplicate from the last role you filled, but if you don't stop and have the discussion to get under the teeth of the JD, you are simply not going to find the right person for your role and organisation.
This is why I am here, to get a thorough understanding of what you are looking for and getting to the point of sourcing the right person or job for YOU! I like to challenge (in the right way), ensuring you don't go down the 'mini me' recruitment route as I call it, because 9 times out of 10 the right person may be the one that, on paper, shouldn't fit. Trust me.
